Is Halloween canceled this year?
Even if you can’t take the kids Trick or Treating there are still ways you can celebrate with them.
You can’t really cancel a holiday as most of us learned from The Grinch trying to steal Christmas.
But Halloween isn't much of a celebration holiday to most as Christmas is, well it is in my family.
Every year as children we would go to my grandmother's neighborhood and load up pillowcases full of delicious candy that sometimes lasted us until Christmas. (If our dad didn’t eat it all on us first)
Then after stopping at the local pizza place for a Kids in Costume Eat Free event, we would unload our candy, maybe change into a new costume or touch up our makeup.
Then…
It was time for the fire.
My father had started a tradition with my older brother that involved carving a pumpkin, setting a roll of kerosene-soaked paper towels inside, and then of course setting it on fire.
Now as the years have come on, my father and I keep this amazing neighborhood tradition alive, but now we’ve upgraded to two large pumpkins with multiple rolls of paper towels and a few gasoline-soaked rolls of toilet-paper off to the side just to spark the flame again.
