I’m Giving Up on Simily

Why the platform isn’t worth my time

Around January all anybody seemed to be able to talk about was the site called Simily where writers and authors could get paid for their fiction.

A dream I’m sure we all share. However after three months on the platform and many issues later I’ve decided not to continue posting work to the site any longer.

After three months on the platform, I posted 56 original stories onto the site and gained 46 followers. Neither of these is anything to write home about and I admit I could have written more during this time, but with the lack of earnings and views, I didn’t feel the motivation to write pieces for a site where they weren’t being seen. There was no real sense of community or viewership.

In my time on Simily I earned:

Total displayed posts: 56
Total due payment: $2.44
Total for Visits: 122

I would show a screenshot of my earnings but the site is down at the moment.

I should be glad to have earned anything from my writing, but earning $0.04 on average for each story isn’t worth the time it takes me to write them when I could be posting them to Medium or Vocal where I have established a better community.
